The Barkan family has acquired in stages over the last 3 years approximately 20 acres of commercial and residential land at this intersection. A portion of the land is co-owned with Brothers Building Company, the area's most prominent custom home builders and a major commercial property landlord in Waitsfield. Brothers Building Company owns the contiguous 75 acres, which combines with the Barkan family to control essentially all of the commercial property in the Irasville section on the West side of Route 100.

I.J. Barkan, Inc. and Brothers Building Company are engaged in long term planning for the eventual upgrade and growth in Irasville, which has been identified as the regional commercial center that the community wants to establish.
